Aborto Medico Por Medio de la Pildora de Aborto

(continued)

Important: Call the clinic if you

1- Soak through one (1) heavy protection maxi pad every hour for three hours or

2- Soak two (2) pads per hour for two (2) hours.

3- No bleeding within 24 hours after using misoprostol, as this may indicate an Ectopic Pregnancy (Pregnancy in the tube).

4- If the pregnancy is not fully expelled from the uterus (womb), it could cause serious infection or other complications.

5- Abortion pill, and especially misoprostol is known to cause fetal malformations. Therefore you must complete the abortion, either medically or surgically, once the medications have been administered.

6- Abdominal pain or "feeling sick" more than 24 hours after taking Misoprostol.

7- Fever. In the days after treatment, if you have a fever of 100.4F or higher that lasts more than 4 hours, you should contact us right away. Fever may be a symptom of a serious infection or other problem (including ectopic pregnancy).

Dos and Don'ts for the time between the abortion pill and your second appointment:

  1. Do use maxi pads ("heavy protection" type for when you insert the misoprostol).
  2. Do NOT use tampons until your final clinic appointment. Tampons will block the passage of the clots and tissue and worsen the cramps, and can even cause infection.
  3. Do NOT have sexual intercourse or douche until after your final appointment to avoid pregnancy and infection.

Last Step -the abortion is not complete until after the ultrasound on the final visit. If medical abortion fails, MFPI Clinic's physician will determine whether to give you more misoprostol pills or to perform a surgical abortion. There is additional charge for surgical abortion.

Remember, these drugs cause serious deformities and the abortion must be completed.
Please read our pamphlet to explain our completely unique surgical abortion done without any instrumentation, and the procedure generally takes less than one minute.

You should NOT use the medical pill if you:
- are more than 63 days (nine weeks)
- are not willing to have a surgical procedure if the pill did not terminate the pregnancy
- can not return for follow-ups
- do not have access to telephone, transportation, and back-up medical care
- have severe adrenal gland, heart, kidney, or liver problems
- take anti-clotting medication or have a blood clotting disorder
- currently have an IUD (You will need to have it removed before the medical procedure)
- are allergic to mifepristone (RU-486) or misoprostol
- have pregnancy outside of the uterus (ectopic pregnancy)
- take certain steroid medications
